Nav is back with another banger entitled “Nothing on Me”. This track is produced by Nav himself as you would expect with any other Nav song. The recent XO signee has been very quiet when it comes to individual work since the collaboration with Metro Boomin with the song, “Up”. Yet he’s stayed relevant with great feature on Travis Scott’s latest project “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” on the song “Biebs in the Trap”.
When it comes to this particular song, Nav comes back with another traditional “Nav song”. When saying that we mean that you already know what to expect when going into a Nav track. Expect to hear drug induced lyrics that are attached to simplistic rhyming schemes and low meaning sayings. Nav isn’t the best lyricist but when it comes to beats, melody and superb mixing he’s definitely one of the best. Nav uniquely pieces together a catchy melody with each song he makes and this trend continues with “Nothing on Me”. Not to say that this song isn’t up to par but it has become easier and easier to anticipate what the subject matter of a Nav song is. He mentions certain events that are going on in his life such as his recent signing to The Weeknd’s XO label/collective, gaining hype, and how people from his past are switching up on him because he’s popping now. It’s basic and very simple. It’s like he’s saying so much at once but it had no substance. But at the end of the day, he is growing into a very successful artist and Toronto Central supports their own all the way. If we were to suggest things that Nav can improve on is his lyrics. It isn’t a diss but they get more simplistic with every song.
